Google has pre announced yet another kernel update; keep track of your rankings. Google announced on the @SearchLiaison Twitter handle that it’s rolling out a brand new core update today, the initial core update for 2020. Google now rolls out these algorithmic upgrades every few months or so.
The statement. Google said“Later today, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the January 2020 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before.”
“The January 2020 Core Update is now live and will be rolling out to our various data centers over the coming days.”
The latest past core update was the Sept. 2019 core update. That update felt weaker to many and webmasters, as most said it did not have as large of an impact as preceding core upgrades. Google also released an update in Nov, but that one was particular to local rankings. What to do if you’re hit. Google has given suggestions about what to consider if you’re affected by a core update in the past. There are not specific actions to take to recover, and in reality, a drawback rankings impact might not signal anything is wrong with your pages.
But, Google has provided a list of questions to consider when you’re website is hit by a core update. Why we care? Whenever Google updates its search ranking algorithms, it usually implies that your website may do better or worse in the search results.
